Preserved in the Den of Change
Scripture exploration on Daniel
"The king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions' den. The king said to Daniel, "May your God... rescue you!" A stone was brought and placed over the mouth... At the first light of dawn, the king got up and hurried... "Daniel, has your God... been able to rescue you?" Daniel answered, "My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions.""
Daniel was an aging statesman caught in major geopolitical upheaval and malicious religious persecution. His rivals threw him into a pit of ravenous beasts. Daniel did not fight the lions; he sat quietly in the dark, guarded by an invisible angel. When our foundations shift, old habits are threatened, and circumstances feel predatory, God will send His angels to muzzle the dangers and carry us through into safety.
